Director Nitesh Tiwari reveals the creative decision behind Ramayana Part 3 that was seriously considered but ultimately shelved. The filmmaker discusses why he chose to split the mythological epic into two parts instead of three, prioritizing emotional depth over additional runtime. The film’s trailer was released recently and received a decent response, with mixed reactions from different sections of the audience.
Why Ramayana Part 3 Was Dropped
Nitesh Tiwari explained that condensing Ramayana into a single film would have compromised the story’s richness. “We would not have done justice to the total story of Ramayana if we had done it in one part. We would have had to rush through too many things, and they had far too many valuable stuff which is there for us to just crunch it in one and leave aside a lot of stuff.”
The filmmaker revealed that the team extensively deliberated between a two-part or three-part structure. “We thought about doing a part 3 for Ramayana as well, but then what was happening in doing that is we were only left with wars in part three,” Tiwari shared.
Emotional Depth Over Visual Spectacle
The director emphasized that emotions form the soul of the Ramayana narrative. A war-focused third installment would have lacked the emotional resonance that defines the epic. “Point to be noted is that emotions are the core for Ramayana, you know. So we were not really having great emotional connect in part three when we were doing it like that.”
This realization led to the final decision. “We then finally decided, okay, we are going to crunch it into two parts, so that not just visual extravaganza remains, but emotional core doesn’t get compromised,” Tiwari explained.
The mythological epic stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama and Sai Pallavi as Sita, bringing the timeless tale to modern audiences with state-of-the-art filmmaking technology.
